Hebrew: בֵּן (ben)

Definition: It’s Friday and time to explore another word, this time following the Aleph-bet, we go to the 2nd letter, the ב Bet. The sages see the beginning ב bet, of בְּרֵאשִׁית Genesis 1:1 as a house (the ב represents a house), which is closed at the top, bottom, and back, blocking from view all that comes before it. But issuing forth from the door of the “house” (the front part of the ב bet, that is open) are the words of Torah in which are hidden all the secrets of G-d’s wisdom. The remaining letters of the aleph-bet are seen as issuing from the ב bet, just as it, in turn, is considered as issuing forth from the א Aleph (represented of the Father). This pictures the way that G-d communicates His Word to the world… through the ב bet of His Son (בֵּן ben) and the ב bet which begins the Bible. The beginning of the Bible starts with the letter ב bet, and ends in Revelation with the letter ן Final Nun. בֵּן ben, or Son. The entire Bible is showing us the SON of the Father. Since the ן Final Nun represents life, there is “life in the Son.” And if we have the Son in our heart, we have that life in our house… our body. What about the numeric value? The ב bet carries the value of 2, the ן Final Nun carries the number 50. 2 + 5 = 7. The number 7 represents completion and perfection. Are we not made in His Image? Amen!
